City mulls plan to tax own water sewer utility
City commissioners weigh a policy to charge the city owned water and sewer utility a transfer amount akin to private property taxes. The measure aims to clarify ratepayer fund transfers to the general fund while preserving essential city services and nontransparent past practices. Opponents warn the policy could inflate transfers and blur true expenses. The commission meets at 6 35 p m at City Hall with City Manager Corliss defending the plan as a transparency move.
