Two Hurt In Headon Crash Near Tonganoxie

Captain Wilbur W. Witcraft 42 commanding officer of the 35th division signal company Kansas national guard died today at the army hospital Fort Snelling Minnesota. He led his unit to Cam Rip ley for maneuvers August 4 and fell ill with acute appendicitis the next day. A World War veteran he is survived by his widow and three daughters.

Dr Ernest Hiram Lindley former Chancellor of the University of Kansas died at sea aboard the liner Asama Maru while returning from a year in the Far East. Burial at sea was announced by Mrs Elizabeth Lindley. he led KU from 1920 to 1939 and fought to remove politics from state education, reshaping the system with non political oversight.
