Dreyfus Defense Faces Hostile Evidence At Court Martial

In Renoce the third week of the Dreyfus trial opened with a crowded court as witnesses, all hostile to Dreyfus, testified amid controversy over Judge Jouaust’s conduct. Mauru Labor's absence irritated spectators while Demange pressed Gribelin on his associations with Paty de Clam and Henry. Dreyfus appeared calmer, and while Gribelin failed to decisively discredit the defense, Demange unsettled him during cross examination. Fabre testified that Dreyfus was distrusted and sought access to military plans, reinforcing doubts about his loyalties. Major Lauth defended his own position as the evidence centered on the bordereau and the case’s key figures.
