Perot to rely on people for White House bid funding
Washington AP Ross Perot plans to finance his 1996 White House bid largely with small contributions from average Americans. He will take $29.2 million in federal funds and rely on donors to raise tens of millions more to match Dole and Clinton. Experts say raising $30 million in 11 weeks is difficult. Perot’s Reform Party faces funding and registration hurdles, with no PAC money and no national party backing.
