Laying Quantrill to rest ends a bones saga in Dover
A white fiberglass coffin held the skull of Confederate guerrilla William Clarke Quantrill buried at Fourth Street Cemetery in Dover Ohio after decades of theft sale and display. The rite ends more than a century of sensational handling of Quantrill bones across three graves in three states and ties the tale to local history and national notoriety.

Quantrill raid expert says few revelations remain
Topeka historian Thomas Goodrich, author of Bloody Dawn and Black Flag, argues little new is left to uncover about Quantrill’s 1863 Lawrence raid. He describes the Red Legs, Kansas and Missouri border guerrillas, and notes forthcoming manuscripts on the Indian Wars and Bill Anderson. He plans a documentary on Bloody Dawn next spring.
