KU Campus Fraternity Rush Sees 65 Men Pledge
KU's men rush ends with 65 rushees pledging to 21 fraternities as women's rush nears invitations. A record 425 summer pledges were set, with formal rush figures near 500. Rushees registered Friday in Lawrence. men stayed at the Holiday Inn and women at the Ramada Inn.

Douglas County Studies Landfill Sites With Core Sampling
Preliminary studies of three possible landfill sites are under way in Douglas County. The county public works department reports core sampling is expected to begin on two additional sites today or Tuesday.

Man and boy drown in Kansas farm pond accident
In Minneapolis Kansas a 44 year old Duane Willmarth and 13 year old Clyde Tyler both from Delphos Kan drowned Saturday night when a small boat capsized at a farm pond eight miles northeast of the city. Willmarth's wife Frances swam to shore. Clyde Tyler was son of Mr and Mrs Wilfred Tyler and was on an outing with the Willmarths family.

Core sampling planned for landfill sites near Lawrence and Eu dora
Project engineer Dave Blackman says core samples will test soils at two sites south of K-10 east of Lawrence and east of U S 59 south of Lawrence to judge landfill suitability. Studies on three more sites east of Lawrence and south of Eu dora are requested by the Douglas County Solid Waste Advisory Committee for Sept 18.
