Army Captain Dies in Denver KU Graduate
Capt. Lucien Watkins 38 of the U S Army Medical Corps died at Buckley General Hospital Denver Colorado. A 1985 KU School of Medicine graduate he served three years in the medical corps and was a former surgeon in Leavenworth. He leaves a widow a four year old daughter his father Dr Charles D Watkins and brother Dr David Watkins both Leavenworth dentists. Watkins entered KU from Leavenworth earning his AB in 1981 and MD in 1935. He belonged to Delta Upsilon Nu Sigma Nu and Alpha Sigma fraternities.

Lawrence State Guard Company Returns From Camp Fenston Training
A 40 man Lawrence company of the Kansas State Guard with three officers came home by bus after a week at Camp Fenston near Fort Riley. The unit, part of the Second battalion, was praised as among the best at the encampment and excelled in 200 yard rifle range firing. Two enlisted men trained in transportation will bring in six wheel army trucks and a jeep for local use. Veteran Edwin Young aided Gov Schoeppel at the encampment review and will be adjutant to the battalion commander. Louis Provost, Sioux Indian and former National Guardsman, served as a governor aide and praised the overall camp experience.
