City of Montreal Burned At Sea Rescue Details
The Inman Line steamer City of Montreal was burned at sea on August 10 after leaving New York. Six passengers and seven crew were missing while 420 passengers were rescued and landed at Queenstown by the York City. The attack left the ship lost in mid Atlantic, barque Trabant and York City aided the survivors. The fire origin remains unknown with the ship valued at about half a million.
