The Lawrence-Douglas County steering committee released its final draft for Plan 2040 outlining denser growth in Lawrence titled to accommodate 20 years ahead. It prioritizes infill development and interior growth with taller buildings row houses ADUs cluster housing and smaller single family homes as potential forms.
The University of Kansas plans to reduce funding for the Audio-Reader program over three years while the service continues to provide readings of newspapers magazines and best sellers to visually impaired readers. Dan Skinner director of Audio Reader and Kansas Public Radio says roughly 330000 dollars in annual support will be stopped.
Kansas independent Greg Orman, an Olathe businessman who ran in 2014, says his bid appeals to Democrats, Republicans and independents. Analysts question whether he acts as a spoiler in the three way race and who benefits. Survey data show limited public support so far.
