Wichita State considers 20-year campus expansion plan
Wichita State University is weighing a 20-year multimillion-dollar plan to add up to 20 new buildings and expand the campus by about 50 percent. The project would cost hundreds of millions, funded largely by private donations and some state funds. The first phase includes a $43 million Experiential Building and a $70 million business school and Innovation Center, plus residences, a hotel, and senior living on campus. President John Bardo outlined the plan to the Kansas Board of Regents and met with faculty. He aims to break ground in January on an experiential engineering building with labs and partners, featuring high tech equipment. State Rep. Gene Suellentrop said funds are tight but the model has worked elsewhere.
