Disney posts another record year despite mix of smaller releases
The article notes Disney will surpass 600 million in annual profits with a broad roster of low budget and midrange films. It highlights The Adventures of Huck Finn produced for 10 million, Son-in-Law at 8 million and Life with Mikey as the sole potential loss, while signing new directors and expanding Miramax. It emphasizes a shift away from perpetual blockbusters toward diversified, cost-controlled productions and less micromanagement by Dick Cook and Jeffrey Katzenberg.
