CONTINUED FROM PAGE 3A RunStrong classes aim to prevent injuries and support mileage goals by focusing on core and lower extremity work. The program, led by Stone, blends drills to boost speed, strength and power, promoting healthy running and enjoyment. Classes welcome middle and high school students with small groups for personalized guidance.
RunStrong begins in November for middle and high school students with $10 per class and $160 for eight weeks. Scholarships are available thanks to donors. The program includes video gait analysis at LMH Health West Campus to assess form, cadence, and hip and knee mechanics, guiding targeted strength work. Runners answer history questions, undergo exams, then train on a treadmill with cameras and sensors to measure foot placement and efficiency. The program partners with KU, Emporia State, Baker University, and local schools, and supports community races like the Kansas Half Marathon and 5K benefiting Heartland Center.
