Women Forum 85 Stirs Mixed Feelings for KU Leader
Michele Van, KU assistant director of minority affairs, returned from Forum 85 in Kenya where 400 women gathered for parallel discussions to the UN Decade for Women. She noted broad support across ages and ideologies, but warned of a conservative swing and persistent pay gaps. The trip included meetings with KU alumna Etta Moten Barnett and a safari, with plans for another African visit later.
