Slayings tied to gangland after Tulsa attorney murder

In Tulsa on August 18 two coins found beside the slain 34-year-old attorney J Earl Smith point to gangland links in the murder. Smith left his wife and two children after a mysterious call, six hours before he was found shot and battered near his sedan. Harvey Bailey, the bank robber Smith defended, awaits sentencing in Kansas, while investigators pursue the telephoned lead.

Rifle Stolen From Green Residence on Ohio Street

A high power rifle was stolen from W R Green's home at 636 Ohio Street Tuesday night. Police report the burglary also took a gold watch, money and a checkbook. Earlier, George Fraker of 710 North Second Street reported a watch stolen from his home yesterday morning.
