Brick by Brick: Lawrence's New York Street Brick Restoration
In Lawrence Kansas the east New York Street brick paving is being restored block by block from 900 to 1100, with about 430000 salvaged bricks laid on their sides after removing asphalt. The project costs 576842 dollars sourced from the federal Recovery Act and aims to finish by late fall. About 50 workers are employed, and a new stone curb for the 1100 block adds 18000 to the price.
