Lawrence Energy Conservation Fair Set for Sept 22
Lawrence hosts a free Energy Conservation Fair at Holcom Park Recreation Center from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on September 22 with exhibits from builders and government agencies on lowering utility bills and boosting efficiency. Official predicts return of air service to Topeka
Topeka officials say regional airport could resume commercial flights by next year aided by 2.2 million in incentives. The Topeka Regional Airport, once Forbes Field, has not had service since 2007 when Allegiant Air ended Las Vegas trips. The Metropolitan Topeka Airport Authority secured 950,000 from the U.S. Transportation Department, with 1 million state funding and 250,000 set aside. Authority president Eric Johnson said the funds enable negotiations with airlines to bring back service and spur new flights.

Provisional ballots mirror last year in Aug primary
Douglas County reports 171 provisional ballots this year and 172 last year amid Kansas voter ID law questions. Forty six ballots lacked suitable ID. 28 have provided proof, 18 remain. Voter turnout tallies show 10,086 ballots cast, about 13.5 percent of registered voters.
