Former Kansas AG to back medical marijuana use
Former Kansas Attorney General Bob Stephan, a Republican who served 1979 to 1995, plans to announce support for medical marijuana. Teen dies after fiery Lenexa crash on K-10 K-7
A 17-year-old from Raymore Missouri died in a head-on collision near the Kansas 10 and Kansas 7 junction in Lenexa after a 1996 Mercury, driven by 16-year-old Taylor Ann Paslosky of Overland Park, swerved across the median at 1 40 p m. The other vehicle, a 1998 Ford SUV driven by Derek Risner, also burned. Risner died. Paslosky wore a seat belt and is hospitalized in serious condition. K 10 briefly closed.

City Commission delays apartment complex plan approval
The city commission paused action on a southeast corner 31st Street and Ouidahi Road apartment project to November or December to let Fairfield Residential draft a unified plan for 37 acres adjacent to the initial 24 acres. Nearby, a small infill project near Lawrence Country Club won unanimous approval after neighbors reached a compromise. Jeff Arensberg’s rezoning for 523 through 543 Rockledge Road passed to allow four homes on one vacant acre, down from five originally requested.
