Ohio hitchhiker collector helps riders across state lines
William Cryan, 77, of Columbus drives his car 1,500 to 2,000 miles weekly helping hitchhikers toward destinations like Indianapolis and Akron. He charges only gas cost, not fare, maintains maps and records 1,600 riders since 1971 including travelers from Panama and Australia, and says the practice is his way to help youths.
