Iowa Farm Strike Goes Into Effect
Le Mars Iowa Aug 15 AP farmers in this area intensify highway picketing and boycotts to enforce a 30 day strike aimed at raising prices. In Kingsley 400 farmers warned dealers not to open or face goods thrown in the street. Across Sioux City barricades blocked trucks carrying farm produce, while live stock trucks from the north failed to reach yards. Milk trucks were stopped and 100 gallons dumped in the street. Passive resistance followed last week’s disturbances as cream and other dairy products were dumped. Deputy sheriffs accompany election trucks as hog supplies decline and prices rise, signaling perceived strike gains.

Gas distributor in rate protest in Topeka
In Topeka on August 15, the Public Service Commission heard that Cities Service Gas Co would have earned about 1.25 million dollars less than a reasonable return for the year ending June 30, 1932, if the 29.5 cent city gate gun rate had been in effect. Eastman testified earnings would have been about 3.835 million under the lower rate, falling short by 1.25 million to meet a seven percent return. The case, reopened to examine distributor earnings, postponed final action as testimony was offered and debated by city gas interests and commission members.
