Prison guard admits sex with life prisoner Susan Smith
National and local lawmen disclosed that Lt. Houston Cagle pleaded guilty to two counts of intercourse with an inmate after having sex with Susan Smith during 2000 at the Women's Correctional Institution in Columbia. Smith is serving life for drowning her two sons in 1994, and another guard, Capt. Alfred R. Rowe Jr., faces trial. Smith has been moved to another facility. A separate Nassau County case reports three arrested after a 15-year-old girl was sexually assaulted over a week by James Warren, Beth Loschin, and Michael Montez following an online correspondence. In Arizona, flash floods killed a 2-year-old and his parents near Supai while they hiked to the Peach Festival, with the bodies found a few miles from the village.
