Academy faces stop work order at Bishop Seabury Academy
Douglas County plans to issue a stop work order today at Bishop Seabury Academy and fine the private school 200 for beginning construction of an addition without a permit. Commissioner Nieder said a neighbor alerted him after seeing concrete footings, leading to questions about permit compliance and a possible miscommunication with the contractor. Elisabeth Lee, dean, said she assumed workers only stacked lumber and did not realize construction had begun. The commission still approved a revision to the conditional use plan for the 2000-square-foot four-classroom addition, while adopting the county budget after a brief public hearing.
