Carcaco Aug 12 A Times Chatsworth Ill special says Superintendent Armstrong testified at the coroner inquest that the wreck occurred at 35 miles per hour. Bridge built fourteen months ago, 15 feet long, 6 feet high. Dead list around 76 with 6 more at Piper City, total deaths now estimated at 84. Robberies emerge as inquiry widens as wreaths of fear and rumor rise.

Fiery Inferno Rolls Through Terre Haute as Buildings Burn

At Terre Haute Indiana on August 12 a devastating blaze consumed the Penny Press building Masonic Temple and Hamilton building adjoining the Dispatch office. The entire fire department fought a spreading fire as nine story structures and surrounding tenements burned.
