Kansas Cabinet would spend tobacco funds on kids programs
The Kansas Children’s Cabinet recommended to Gov. Bill Graves a 40 million allocation from tobacco settlement funds for fiscal year 2002. The plan prioritizes Smart Start Kansas with 14.3 million, expands tobacco prevention, and earmarks most funds for the state trust fund benefiting children. The proposal, approved by the Cabinet with one vote against, awaits Graves’ review in January.
