A 100 pound infrared imaging device helps Lawrence Fire & Medical view through smoke and darkness. Capt. Lexie Engleman demonstrated the helmet mounted camera, allowing firefighters to locate fire sources and trapped people. Gifted by Libby Kriz Fiorito and Laura Kriz in honor of Edward Kriz, the device could revolutionize fire and rescue work and was funded outside the department budget.

Kansas University will receive two skeletons from massive plant eaters that died about 150 million years ago in a Wyoming flood. Assistant curator Jordan Yochim says the find enriches KU’s Natural History Museum. The adult Camarasaurus is named Lyle with portions delivered now and more bones due Aug. 23, alongside a baby. The fossils were found on a ranch at the Black Hills edge and buried under dirt to guard against erosion.
