Two-Night Jayhawk Rodeo Opens at Douglas County Fairgrounds

The Jayhawk Rodeo opens Friday at 7 30 p m and Saturday at the 4 H Fairgrounds in conjunction with the Douglas County Free Fair. About 50 competitors will compete for nearly 1500 dollars in prize money with stock provided by Floyd Rumford's Abbyville group. Tickets cost 125 for adults and 50 cents for children under 12, available at the gate. The event features bronc riding calf roping steer wrestling brahma bull riding and barrel racing. A highlight Friday will crown the Kansas Second District Dairy Princess with six candidates. Weather prospects look favorable after last year’s poor attendance due to wet and chilly conditions.
