The Paige T manager reports at least 3 million dollars in gold ore in sight with more ore waiting as mines operate. Smelters demand light, some plants shut down delaying shipments. Miners hold ore in reserve. lawfulness appears strong despite rugged roads and horseback travel.
Sam notes that local schools dara are remarkably good given the limited time to perfect them. Kansas university is well represented as Cripple Creek shows strong teacher training. E W Palmer is county superintendent and E Hickey is high school principal. Three years ago fires devastated the business district, but now brick and stone buildings stand in place. The writer mentions an electric line starting for the hills and plans to be away a week after spending the day in town.

The Toward the Wells Street bridge the schooner Ameries broke away, the Lake Forest lost rigging, and a number of homes suffered damage from fallen trees and shattered walls. The storm also damaged the St Joseph Polish Catholic church spire and caused fires at the Avenue hotel. No lives reported lost though possible drownings near the park were feared.
