Haskell funding stays flat for next year
The U S Senate approved a $40 million budget for Haskell Indian Nations University for the coming year, unchanged from this year. President Clinton proposed a $200,000 increase, but the Senate Appropriations Committee removed it. The Interior Department budget passed 92 to 6, with Dole and Kassebaum voting yes. The school faces potential BIA cutbacks and weighs higher fees or expanded donor support to offset the flat funding.
