A father and his three children Alberta Watkins Erline Elizabeth Margaret Alberta and Charles Alberta were found dead in their Kinsley home after a fire. Firemen located the bodies in an upstairs room near a five gallon gasoline can, and blood at the scene suggested the victims may have been shot before the fire started. Neva Watkins was at work nearby. the father was unemployed. A filling station attendant said he had sold Watkins gasoline shortly before the blaze.

Two Die in River Near Lawrence
Harold Jones a 27 year old farmer from Lecompton and his brother in law Stanley Strong aged 14 or 40 were drowned in the Kaw River east of Lawrence sometime Saturday night or Sunday morning. Jones body was found on a sandbar near Eudora Sunday morning while Strong's was not recovered until Sunday afternoon. Jones may have drowned trying to save Strong who could not swim. Jones survived by wife and two children.
