Fire destroys fourteen business houses in Johnson County
A blaze in TraFalgar Johnson County Aug 10at 3 o clock morning destroyed fourteen business buildings leaving only three intact. The fire started on Williams drug store roof after sparks from an excursion train on the Franklin Fairland and Martinsville branch of the Sid C Railroad. Water was scarce with wells used for buckets. Notable losses include J J Moore Co general store railroad offices post offices StoutsHarper store Williams drug store Dawson hardware and tin store Lavis boot and shoe store Fentons general store Shoemakers grocery and Eatons furniture store. Total loss estimated at 100000 with only a small portion insured.
