Statehouse personnel changes loom after Hall defeat
TOPEKA The Kansas governor’s defeat in the Tuesday primary sets off sweeping statehouse personnel shifts. Top policy posts under direct governor appointment will change, including adjutant general, director of administration, alcohol and highway chiefs, highway patrol head, and other key posts. Several boards and commissions retain terms, notably Kansas Corporation Commission and Board of Regents, while highway commissioners all remain Hall appointees with terms expiring in 1957. Townsend named to Kansas Turnpike Authority for four years, succeeding Jacobs. Hall may replace aides Kiger and Harch.
