Army unveils M-29 snow buggy for Arctic rescue missions
At Buckly Field Colorado Aug. 10 the army showcases the M-29 light carrier a track-tractor vehicle capable of carrying 1200 pounds and towing a trailer for 6 to 12 men on skis. Tested on Mount Evans and Berthoud Pass it has aided blizzard crews and downed fliers in the Rockies. GIs nickname it the snow buggy and experts demonstrate steering by reins to avoid crevasses as Maj. Innes-Taylor notes future use with accompanying M-208 resupply carts.
