County considers groundwater testing for solar projects
A rural Douglas County resident backs a proposed code amendment requiring annual groundwater tests near solar sites for heavy metals like lead cadmium and zinc. The plan, driven by concerns over NextEra’s West Gardner project, would mandate certified labs and a remediation plan if contamination is found. The commission will discuss the amendment today, potentially sending it to the Planning Commission before a final vote.
