County eyes mill levy changes for equipment replacements
County Administrator Sarah Plinsky warned commissioners may need to set aside funds for equipment replacements as the 5.5 mill levy, established in 2021 after consolidating five township fire departments, remains static. If assessed value grows 2 percent, a levy increase could be considered. Commissioner Patrick Kelly suggested a future work session to review equipment status and use of fund balance. The fire district budget vote is scheduled for Aug. 28 alongside the 2025 Douglas County budget.
