Refurbished KU parking lot aims for eco friendly design
KU Lot 54 between Naismith Drive and Green Hall is being torn up and rebuilt into a green parking lot with water recycling, rain garden and energy efficient lights at a total cost of 1.8 million dollars. Construction runs through September, with staff moved to nearby lots including Allen Field House garage and graduate students finding farther parking. The deteriorated surface caused traffic jams and confusing entry, now replaced by dirt and water-filled trenches as work proceeds.
