In the final weeks of summer, the store clears summer goods to make way for fall merchandise. Prices drop to minimum, with many items below cost. Highlights include silk and mercerized cotton hose, bed spreads, and decorated crochet and novelty spreads offered at substantial reductions. Items sold rapidly as stock dwindles.
In a market row of items from well known brands a selection of full fashioned and bare thread silk and chiffon lingerie is offered at 129 dollars per pair. Bargain tables feature rotton middies aprons kimonas and underwear with any article for 49 cents. Fabrics include 6 inch Lonsdale cambric or nainsook at 25 cents a yard 36 inch Berkley cambric 25 cents yard and 36 inch Lonsdale muss lin 19 cents. 36 inch soft finish raus lin 14 1 2 cents and 10 4 bleached sheeting at 40 and 45 cents with 10 4 bleached sheeting at 50 cents per yard.
Bargain racks display dresses and frocks with crepe de chine and wash silk, formerly up to 27.50 now 12.98. Wool skirts in white tan and mixtures, and ginghams priced to clear. Novice shoppers urged to prepare for school days with dramatic reductions on dresses and broadcloths.
One rack of 385 wool dresses reduced from 89.50 to 10.00 with additional marks. Knitted silk sports ensembles drop from 25.00 to 12.50. Two satin ensembles offered at half price. Also smart cloth ensembles and 86 inch bleached muslin sold by the yard at 15c.
The advertisement lists wide reductions on voiles, broadcloths, ratines, charmeuse, lace, organdie, organza, gingham, and dress fabrics. Each item shows former values and new sale prices per yard, with discounts ranging from 25 to 55 cents, highlighting dramatic markdowns on fancy and colored fabrics.
Remaining tub silk stripes and checks, printed chiffons, crepes, and pongees are heavily discounted. Prices range from 69 cents to 5.00 a yard with many former higher price patterns now reduced to 1.29 to 2.49 a yard. Focused on silk and cotton poplin and border prints.
One lot of printed crepe tunic blouses cut velveteen and satin offered at 4.98 each after previous 15 price tag. Misses sweaters to clear, Jap parasols 50c and 1.00 values now 75c and 75c. Handbags formerly 3.50 cleared at 2.75 each.
Sale note lists plaid blankets sized 72 by 84 inches with a special price of 1.65 dollars each. The pair price appears to total 325 dollars, offered as part of a limited sale event.
