Traveling carnival hires locals for Douglas County Fair rides

Suspect charged in S and L robbery in federal court

A Kansas City woman, Carol Ann Scroggins, 50, allegedly robbed Columbia Savings in downtown Lawrence about 11 45 a m then went to a local restaurant for beers and tacos. She faces a single count of bank robbery and was held without bond after a first appearance before U S Magistrate Ronald C Newman in Topeka with a detention hearing set for Tuesday.
