Young 4-Her builds long lasting wildlife area in Kansas
Kahlyn Heine a first grader from Wakarusa Valley School started a 4-H project to create a 6.5 acre wildlife area behind the family pond near Clinton Lake. Her parents Rod and Lannea Heine signed a 20 year NRCS agreement to maintain the wetlands while the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and Kansas Wildlife and Parks assist with costs and seed. The project aims to leave a half acre wetlands that outlives Kahlyn’s 4-H participation and teaches care for nature.
