Two KU students escape as car burns on K-10 near Eudora
Eddie Balcom and Justin Crisp, both 17 and from Marion and Mission respectively, escaped uninjured when Balcom's 1969 Chevelle caught fire on K-10 just west of the Douglas County line. The blaze started in the brakes and lit nearby grass, sparking a one acre grass fire. Fire crews from Eudora Township and DeSoto fought the flames for 45 minutes as a dry spell raised fire danger.
