Grain storage shortages ease in Kansas fields
With fall crops maturing, grain elevators ease shortages as more than half of this year's wheat has been picked up from the ground. Kansas reports 1.1 million bushels on the ground and 170,000 in temporary storage, down from peak on July 22. Much wheat moves to Salina, Wichita and Topeka terminals, aided by deferred pricing.

Olathe Soldier’s Family Sues Over Fatal Helicopter Crash
In Jefferson City Missouri jurors were chosen for a wrongful death suit by Staff Sgt. Bruce Nanninga of Olathe Kansas and three fellow reservists against Three Rivers Electric Cooperative. The July 30 1994 crash near St Thomas Cole County Missouri occurred during a routine training flight.

Accident victim in Kansas City hospital in fair condition
A 12 year old girl, Kendra Toshavik, struck by a car while in a Lawrence yard Sunday morning, was upgraded to fair condition at a Kansas City hospital. Noel Alfred George, 18, was delivering newspapers when his truck was hit by Eugene Carter, 51, who collided with the truck after it blocked the road with bright lights. Carter’s breath test showed no alcohol. Toshavik, an Arizona resident visiting relatives, was airlifted from Lawrence Memorial Hospital to KU Medical Center.
