Ameritech cites slamming in FCC complaints against MCI and AT&T

Ameritech filed complaints with the FCC accusing MCI Communications and AT&T Corp. of slamming by switching customers to other providers without permission. They report 33,940 slamming complaints from July 1996 to June 1997, claiming 48 percent of Ameritech’s total 71,033 slamming complaints. AT&T and MCI dispute the charges and question Ameritech’s statistics, suggesting many cited cases involve non slamming scenarios or local disputes during competition.
