Lower-priced GPS gear boosts global positioning reach
President Clinton's GPS policy and cheaper handheld receivers push accurate navigation toward the public. With selective availability to end by 2006, civilians gain near-military precision, enabling hunters and anglers to locate hunting zones and fishing spots more reliably. Prices at $200 expand the market, spurring growth and jobs, especially in California, with billions in annual sales anticipated by 2000.
