Major Boom In Campers
The explosion in recreational vehicle sales spurs a nationwide surge in private campgrounds and resort-like amenities. California leads with 1,388 campgrounds and KOA dominates with about 500 franchised sites. New luxury layouts attract families while government sites face funding limits. Private rentals grow as Hertz and Avis join the trend, with RV sales totaling 1.5 billion dollars last year.
