Former UTU official sentenced for embezzling union funds
Daniel Van Becelaere, 53, of Pittsburg, was sentenced to 15 months in federal prison after pleading guilty to embezzling 36 170 dollars from Local 763 of the United Transportation Union. He issued 180 checks to himself between 2000 and 2002 and was ordered to repay the money. The sentence followed a May 11 guilty plea to one count. Judge Monti Belot set the Nov 1 report to prison date.
