Johnson orders expanded Navy patrols in Tonkin Gulf

President Johnson ordered U S naval forces in the Tonkin Gulf area to destroy any attacking force. The action followed the Maddox attack by three North Vietnamese PT boats. He ordered increased destroyer patrols and a combat air patrol to drive off and destroy aggressors in international waters.

Riot erupts after Kansas City crash injures officers

A two hour riot followed a minor traffic collision in Kansas City Kansas injuring five police officers and a Black man. Local Youth Injured In Saturday Car Crash

Kenneth D. Coffman a 17 year old resident of 753 Elm Street suffered a back injury when his eastbound car was struck near 23rd and Ousdahl by a vehicle driven by John G. Shook 22 of 1302 West 4th Street. Both cars were total losses. Coffman was treated at Lawrence Memorial Hospital and released the next day.
