In Wichita authorities say a man was arrested after posting Facebook comments threatening to storm the Sedgwick County Courthouse and kill officers if Kyler Carriker was found guilty. Sheriff Easter called the threat credible, with extra security around the courthouse while peaceful protesters remained outside.
The relocated 31st Street from Ousdahl Road to Haskell Avenue will open to all traffic Wednesday weather permitting. George Williams Way north of Sixth Street is set for the Urban Water Slide on August 8 and 9. KU seeks extension to Saturday to paint the Irving Hill overhead bridge. Traffic in parts of 27th Street and Naismith Valley Park will be reduced to a single lane at times. 27th Street closes at Naismith Valley Park August 10 and reopens August 14. KU contractors continue work on 15th Street from Engel Road to Burdick. Bob Billings Parkway remains one lane each direction between Foxfire Drive and Wakarusa Drive for reconstruction.
