NRA loses 300000 members after growth surge
The National Rifle Association shed more than 300,000 members this year, leaving just under 3.2 million by June. Internal documents obtained by The Associated Press show five straight monthly declines after a January uptick, blamed on higher membership fees as spending on promotion jumped since 1992. Revenue rose while cash and investments dropped from about $103 million in 1991 to roughly $52 million in 1994.

Monetary mistakes in farm aid audits prompt 90 day rule
The inspector general found average overpayments of 371 dollars across 4288 cases from 1990 to 1994, often due to USDA field staff errors in processing claims. One farmer was found owed 243 dollars but kept 206, amid audits that farmers say could harm business. Congress debates the 90 day rule as USDA backs price protection while lawmakers consider ending the rule.
