Kansas Senate race campaign money ties to unions and groups
Kansas Republicans and moderates clash over campaign funding in the state Senate races. The Kansas Jobs PAC reports $50,000 from the Kansas National Education Association PAC and $30,000 from union PACs including the Teamsters and Carpenters District Council. The Kansas Chamber PAC and Kansas Jobs PAC are said to route funds through campaign consultancies to sidestep candidate limits. Americans for Prosperity, a Koch-founded tax-exempt group, is active with undisclosed spending. Critics say leadership aligns with unions against conservatives, while supporters note Republican votes on Obamacare and looming deficits. Koch Industries contributes $125,000 to the Chamber PAC, with other big donors. Kansas voters consider these money flows amid a tight political landscape.
