Lawrence Area Water Districts Weigh Wholesale Plant Plan
Water districts around Lawrence pursue a new wholesale plant as they near the end of feasibility studies. RWD Nos 2 and 5 and Osage County Rural Water District No 5 consider joining a district that would sell water to Baldwin City and others, with RWD No 4 and Baldwin City weighing options including a joint facility between Eudora and Lawrence. Mayors and city leaders seek rate relief and long term contracts to keep customers, while Baldwin City considers alternatives including De Soto and Sunflower Army Ammunition Plant sites.
