Army study links deployments to increased child neglect
A Pentagon funded study finds Army families with deployed fathers show higher risks of child mistreatment by mothers. During deployment mothers were three times more likely to have substantiated abuse reports, nearly four times as likely to neglect, and almost twice as likely to physically abuse children. The Army plans more family support, respite care funding, and home visits at bases with high neglect rates.
