Five Gas Wells Hit McLouth Field In Recent Week
In the McLouth area several wells were brought in with high gas potential. Five wells yielded over 30 million cubic feet daily, while a sixth showed promising oil at 1400 feet. Nearby, the Earl Bower farm north of McLouth reported 642 million feet in gas potential, and the McLeod land west of the high school measured 344 million feet. Additional wells on the M. M. Zacharriah farm northwest of town produced 64 to 7 million feet, and the Ralph Edmonds farm reported 645 to 7 million feet. An oil sand appeared on the Matt Woodward farm, north of McLouth, with two tests northeast of Lawrence abandoned after Mississippi lime was reached. A new test is planned in the same area.

Rescued Sailors Survive Eight Days In Open Boat
Twenty five men from a torpedoed American freighter were saved after eight days drifting in an open boat on rationed crackers and water. They reached port in Bermuda. several crewmen were injured or exhausted. Civil Air Patrol Offers Aid to Tornado Region
